End-of-service calculator

LinkGulf editorial teamLast reviewed: 9 October 2026

An estimate of end-of-service gratuity in Saudi Arabia and the UAE from the text of the law, on a 30-day month. It is not a settlement and not a ministry decision. The method is under the fields. The sum runs in the browser and no figure is sent anywhere.

Leave out overtime and irregular bonuses. If the contract splits basic, housing and transport, add the fixed allowances to the basic.

Enter time actually worked. In the UAE, take unpaid absence out before you type the length. A year here is 360 days and a month is 30, because a day’s wage is the monthly wage divided by 30.

Saudi Arabia — Articles 84 and 85

A day’s wage is the monthly wage divided by 30. The calculator treats a year as 360 days so the steps match this section. A court can divide by the calendar year; if it does, the gap is small and its figure is the one that counts.

The wage you enter is the last actual wage: basic plus fixed allowances. Overtime and a bonus that is not paid regularly stay out. Article 86 allows an agreement to leave variable commission out.

Article 84: half a month’s wage for each of the first five years, a full month for each year after that, for the fraction of the year actually worked. If the employer ends the contract or the term expires, the award is full even when service is under two years.

Resignation (Article 85): nothing under two years, one third from two years through five, two thirds above five and under ten, and the full award from ten years. Article 87 (force majeure, or a woman ending the contract within six months of marriage or three months of childbirth) keeps the full award. Article 80, when its conditions are actually met, removes it. The calculator still shows the full figure above the zero so you can see what was removed.

UAE — Article 51

Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, Article 51, for a foreign worker on a full-time contract: 21 days of basic wage for each of the first five years, and 30 days for each year after. Nothing before one continuous year. You take unpaid absence out of the length before you type it, because the calculator does not know those days.

The wage here is basic only. Housing and transport allowances stay out. Resignation does not reduce the award under this law. The cap is two years of wage: 24 times the monthly basic. Part-time work has a different sum in Article 52 and is not in this calculator. If the establishment has an alternative scheme the Cabinet has approved, Article 51 itself says the traditional formula may not apply.

Examples that match the calculator

  • Saudi Arabia, the employer ended the contract, 3 years, wage 3,000: 4,500.
  • Saudi Arabia, the employer ended the contract, 2 years and 6 months, wage 4,000: 5,000 (two years = 4,000, six months = 1,000).
  • Saudi Arabia, resignation after 6 years, wage 3,000: 7,000, which is two thirds of 10,500.
  • UAE, 3 years, basic 3,000: 6,300. Under one year: zero. A long service stops at 24 times the basic wage.
